HAIR MYTH….
Hair loss is inherited through your mother, but the chances of inheriting this trait is really only 50%
Before I start talking about treatments for baldness I want to say that a shaved head on a man can be very sexy. Denial is not!
There is a chance that you will go bald as genetics do play their part, I’m sorry but its true. So if you start thinning on top you can either accept the hand that nature has dealt you and shave it off or try one of the numerous treatments out there to reverse or slow it down.
I was astounded by how many websites there are dedicated to this topic and various “miracle” cures. So what’s going on? If they really do work why is my next-door neighbor still bald?
Research shows it is easier to prevent healthy hairs from falling out than to re-grow hair in follicles that are already dormant. This means at first signs of hair in your drain do something about it. There are, however, products that have good success rates with re-growth, including the scientifically proven Propecia and Regaine.
Treating hair loss successfully requires experimentation and it is generally thought that if you follow three basic principles you will avoid the common mistakes that can sabotage treatments. They are: try proven treatments first, take pictures of your progress, and be very patient. The average hair loss treatment takes a minimum of 6 months to begin working, and sometimes up to 24 months to truly see great results.
REGAIN (Minoxidil)
Minoxidil is a vasodilator that was originally used to treat high blood pressure, but one of the side effects was hair growth and reversing baldness. Minoxidil is applied topically to the scalp, and has been shown to promote hair growth in about 25% of men.
PROPECIA (Finasteride)
Finasteride, marketed under brand name Propecia belongs to a class of drugs called aza-steroids and was originally approved by the FDA as a treatment for enlarged prostates. Soon after its release, it was discovered that patients who were taking Finasteride were experiencing hair growth. By 1997 it was approved by the FDA for the treatment of male pattern baldness.
HAIR TRANSPLANTATION
Hair transplantation involves relocating hair follicles from the back and sides of the head to the bald or thinning areas. The transplanted hair follicles will typically grow hair for your lifetime because they are taken from the back of the head where the hair is genetically resistant to going bald. In recent years hair transplantation techniques have improved, they now use large numbers of small grafts that contain from between 1 to 4 hairs instead of big tufts of hair that looked very obvious.
NATURAL ALTERNATIVES
There are some very popular natural hair loss treatments for you to try. www.hairlosshaven.com reviews its top 5 individually. It’s a great website for natural alternatives.
Stress can also cause hair loss and affect the condition of your hair so yoga, massage or meditation can help. Massaging the scalp and head with essential oils like balsam, bergamot, geranium, cypress, eucalyptus, rosemary, rosewood and sandalwood, all of which are replenishing and moisturising creates a mild heat that increases circulation and diffuses minerals and vitamins over the scalp.
THE FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT
The prospective treatment of hair multiplication/hair cloning, which extracts self-replenishing follicle stem cells, multiplies them many times over in the lab, and microinjects them into the scalp, has been shown to work in mice, and is currently under development, expected by some scientists to be available to the public in 2015.
